Downtown CornwallCornwall's revitalized downtown offers a growing mix of restaurants and retail stores, supported by professional offices and new hi-density residential projects.

Anchored by the landmark intersection of Pitt and Second Street, the Downtown has recently welcomed several new restaurants and merchants. It is also home to Cornwall Square, the region's largest indoor shopping mall.

Financial Assistance

Cornwall's Heart of the City program has a number of financial assistance programs to help landowners undertake property improvements, with a special focus on aesthetic improvements, and the upgrading and renovation of commercial properties and ancillary residential units.

Residential Growth

More and more people are choosing to make downtown their home, spurred on by a number of residential projects. Knox City Centre is a 40-unit apartment building currently under construction and 15 new condos will soon break ground at nearby Dominion Place. Additional hi-density projects have been approved at the former Si Miller Arena site.

Professional Offices

City Hall is located in the Downtown, as are the Provincial Courts, Chamber of Commerce and the headquarters of the St. Lawrence Seaway. Office workers keep local merchants and restaurants busy throughout the week.

Sporting Event and Festival Crowds

The Cornwall Civic Complex is located at the base of Pitt Street and includes a 5,000 seat arena that is home to the Cornwall Colts and Cornwall River Kings. The Complex also hosts a number of music concerts throughout the year. Lamoureux Park is the site of Cornwall's major summer festivals. Downtown merchants and restaurants are in prime location to take advantage of these crowds.

Waterfront Trail

Cornwall's 40km network of recreational paths travels the entire southern edge of the Downtown, offering great views of the St. Lawrence River.

Cornwall Downtown Business Improvement Area

The Cornwall Downtown BIA board is proud to serve over 150 member businesses and bring revitalization efforts to the downtown core. With a focus on beautification and increasing patronage of the downtown, the DBIA is dedicated to making Downtown Cornwall a chosen destination for tourists and residents alike.
