Province helps Cornwall Area Manufacturers Expand
Two Cornwall area companies are expanding due to assistance from the Eastern Ontario Development Fund.
Reynolds Food Packaging
With a grant of $102,225 from the province, Reynolds Food Packaging is investing to retrofit its existing facility, implement a more efficient manufacturing process and upgrade equipment. These improvements will double production capacity and help the company maintain its position as a market leader. Over 45 new manufacturing jobs will be created.

"The Eastern Ontario Development Fund provides exactly the type of targeted, strategic investments that will help realize the region's full economic potential."
Reynolds Food Packaging produces semi-rigid plastic packaging, like those used by grocery stores for selling baked goods. The facility currently serves markets in North America, South America, Europe, Australia and the Middle East. The company located in Summerstown, just east of Cornwall in the Township of South Glengarry in 1989.
Beavers Dental, a world class developer and manufacturer of dental rotary cutting instruments, is designing and developing a new range of carbide burs and expanding the capability of their existing operations. New machines for welding and custom grinding will allow the company to produce these new types of stainless steel burs, meeting demand in existing and new markets in Europe and Asia.
The province is providing a grant of $412,939 through the Eastern Ontario Development Fund to help the company implement the project.
"Beavers Dental (Sybron Canada) is elated to receive news of this investment from Ontario," said Don McDonald, Controller and Vice President, Sybron Canada. "The support from Ontario will be instrumental in assisting the development of our new range of stainless steel carbide burs and we are very excited with the new market opportunities that it will present throughout the world."
Beavers Dental has been in business for 63 years and currently has 283 employees at their Morrisburg facility, which is located just west of Cornwall in the Township of South Dundas. Beavers Dental is owned by Sybron Canada, which is a division of a US-based Sybron Dental Specialties.
Eastern Ontario Development Fund
The Eastern Ontario Development Fund supports the province's five-year Open Ontario plan to create new job opportunities and promote economic growth. To date, the Eastern Ontario Development Fund has committed over $23.8 million to 50 announced projects, representing a total project investment of more than $161 million and creating 715 new jobs.
Previously, Cornwall based manufacturers Seaway Yarns, SigmaPoint Technologies and MiniMax Express have received assistance from EODF. The Province of Ontario also invested $440,000 towards the construction of a new road in the Cornwall Business Park.
