Anytime Fitness CornwallWhen Mike Fontaine wants to go for a workout, he doesn’t need to look at a watch. That’s because the successful contractor and local businessman has just opened up Anytime Fitness, a new gym that is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

“Today’s world is very busy, and finding time to work out can be challenging – especially for people working shifts,” said Mr. Fontaine. “Anytime Fitness can accommodate everybody’s schedule.”

The new 5050 sq.ft. fitness facility is located at the Eastcourt Mall on Second Street East and offers state of the art strength training and cardiovascular equipment. It also offers 24-hour tanning and hydro-massage beds. The faciliity also offers Fitness on Request, over 40 video-led classes in Tae Bo, Pilates, kick-boxing, spinning and more - all availabe 24/7.

Members gain access to the Cornwall facility using a special key fob that also allows them to visit more than 1,800 clubs worldwide, at no extra cost. The facility offers integrated access with remote monitoring of surveillance systems to provide round-the-clock safety and security. Personal safety devices allow for one-touch access to emergency care. Private restrooms with showers offer convenience for those who wish to change at the club or freshen up before they leave.

“Anytime Fitness is a great system for people who travel a lot, and we are happy to now offer a Cornwall location to the more than 1 million members worldwide,” said Mr. Fontaine. “Our facility is easily accessible to travellers on the 401, as well as to visitors who may be staying at local hotels.”

The club officially opened on January 16 with Mayor Bob Kilger on hand for the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

“It is great to see Mike re-invest in Cornwall,” said Mayor Kilger. “He has a proven business track record, and I wish him the best in this new venture.”

Reaction from the community has been very positive.

“We have had a great start to our membership drive, with as many as 30 people joining in a single day,” said Matt O’Shaughnessy, Assistant Manager.

“We want this to be very much a neighborhood-style fitness club,” adds Mike Fontaine. “We treat our members like family – we’re here to help. It’s like everybody now has a key to our house. Everybody is welcome.”
