Petty Little ThingsAfter much anticipation, the General Electryk will officially release their debut album "Petty Little Things" on 12" vinyl records at Cornwall Regional Art Gallery on Saturday February 11th at 7pm.  As part of the celebration, the band will play songs from the album on starting at 8pm!

The General Electryk held an artwork competition where residents of Cornwall and area were encouraged to supply original artwork to grace the front and back covers of the album. The image chosen for the front of the album, was drawn by artist Jay Schwartz and the back cover image was painted by artist Daniel Archambault.

"We are very happy with images by Jay and Daniel," said lead singer Mélanie Brûlée. "The album looks fanstastic!"

Twelve images were shortlisted and all twelve images will be available for viewing at the Cornwall Regional Art Gallery starting from 1pm on Saturday February 11 and on Sunday February 12 from 1-5pm.

The vinyl release was funded in part due to a grant from Artpreneur 2010 and Cornwall Business Enterprise Centre (CBEC), and is a throwback to decades past. Included with record itself is a download code to download a free copy of the mp3 version of the album, along with a high gloss insert with original photography by Framed Photography.

"A lot of our fans asked if we were going to release the album on vinyl, and we're happy to oblige," said Mélanie. "The dollars we received from ARTpreneur and the CBEC really helped make this a reality."

"ARTpreneur is an conference organized each year by the Business Enterprise Centre to help local artists become better entrepreneurs," said Candy Pollard, CBEC Business Consultant.  "Mélanie and her bandmates have worked hard to promote the sale of their debut CD, and this vinyl edition is a great example of maximizing the business opportunity created by their art."

The album can be purchased at the release party for $25. People who would like a copy of the album but cannot make the performance can contact Mélanie at to organize shipping and payment, etc.
