St-Hubert Named Business of the Year
One of Cornwall’s most popular restaurants was recently named 2011 Business of the Year by the Cornwall and Area Chamber of Commerce. St-Hubert Restaurant, owned and operated by Karen McMillan and Lloyd Lalonde, has been delighting hungry patrons for over 25 years from its Brookdale Avenue location.
The Cornwall restaurant is one of the busiest franchises in the St-Hubert family, which operates primarily in Quebec. The only Ontario communities with a St-Hubert restaurant are Cornwall and Ottawa.
Ms. McMillan and Mr. Lalonde have continually reinvested in the business, including a major $600,000 renovation/expansion which saw the introduction of the cozy pub St-Hub. For the past 5 years, the Cornwall restaurant has consistently placed in the top 5 in the St-Hubert corporate Excellence Program, and in 2010 won the coveted Golden Rooster Award, ranking the restaurant 1st among all 107 locations.
“Karen and Lloyd would be the first to recognize the efforts of our entire team in achieving this high level of excellence,” said Debbie Cooper, General Manager. “Certainly we share this award with all of our 85 team members.”
The philanthropic actions of the entire Cornwall St. Hubert team were recognized at the Business Excellence Awards. The team has made its impact felt throughout the community, offering support to the Cornwall Community Hospital, Children’s Treatment Centre, the United Way and the Benson Centre. It has a long standing relationship with the local MS Society and its annual Golf Day.
The Cornwall St. Hubert restaurant features a varied menu that includes the company’s legendary rotisserie chicken. The first St. Hubert restaurant was opened in 1951 on St. Hubert Street in Montreal. St. Hubert is the 16th largest restaurant chain operating in Canada.
