Team Canada Hopes are Golden for Final Bell
Team Canada is going into the final day at the Continental Boxing Championships with three boxers vying for top honours.
Myriam da Silva faces Kimberly Gittens of Barbados in the 69 kg category, while Maude Bergeron faces Franchon Crews of Team USA in the 81 kg category. Current World and Pan American champion Mary Spencer squares off against Amercian Claressa Shields in the 75 kg. category.
A confident Mary Spencer tweeted earlier today just before her weigh in: "Tonight its brains vs brawn and guess who wins?"
Four countries will be represented in the finals. Team USA leads with 7 fighters, Brazil has 5 fighters, Argentina has 4 fighters and the Barbados has 1 boxer in the finals. Team Canada, with a relatively inexperienced squad, has done well to place 3 fighters in the finals.
