Watch Tower Convention - CornwallIn June, the Cornwall Civic Complex will host the annual Watch Tower convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses, which will see some 16,000 delegates attend over four weekends.

English conventions will be held during the weekends of June 1 to 3 and June 8 to 10. The following two weekends, June 15 to 17 and June 22 to 24, will be dedicated to the French language.

“We are delighted to once again host this important event,” said Janice Robinson, Facilities Rental Coordinator. “This convention is one of the largest events that we host at the Civic Complex each year, and it generates significant economic spin-offs for the entire community.”

The Watch Tower Convention has been held in Cornwall for the past 14 years.

During the months of June through August, Jehovah’s Witnesses will present 51 conventions in 24 locations across the country. In addition to English and French, the convention programs will be presented in Arabic, Chinese Cantonese, Chinese Mandarin, Haitian Creole, Italian, Korean, Portuguese, Quebec Sign Language, Spanish, and Tagalog. The total projected expected attendance across Canada is 147,000.

People may often hear the expression “Follow your heart” but rarely hear “Safeguard your heart.” The latter phrase will be heard many times during this summer’s “Safeguard your heart” District Convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

The Witnesses’ convention program promises a fresh examination of Biblical references to the figurative heart. Through lively discourses, dramatic Bible readings and presentations, and even a live play, program parts will emphasize how protecting the figurative heart will enhance one’s spiritual well-being, family life, and happiness.

The public is invited to attend any session or the entire program at the Civic Complex. All morning sessions will begin at 9:20 am. The afternoon sessions begin on Friday at 1:50 pm, Saturday at 1:35 pm and Sunday at 1:25 pm. There is no admission fee. Conventions of Jehovah’s Witnesses are supported entirely by voluntary donations.
