Cornwall Regional Art Gallery Hosts Photography Exhibition
After a gruelling selection process, 41 photographers will have their work on display at the Cornwall Regional Art Gallery as part of the third annual Juried Photography Exhibition.
The question now is who will take home the top prizes, and that will be revealed at the show's opening reception and awards night on August 23rd at 7pm at the Gallery (168 Pitt Street).
"This is a tough show," said CRAG assistant director Vincent Pilon. "The competition is very healthy in this medium."
Pilon hopes to see all photographers present at the awards night, even those whose pieces didn't make the cut.
"It's always a fun night and a good way for photographers to meet each other and discuss their works," he said.
The jurors for this year's photo exhibit were professional photographers Jesse Hildebrand and Julie Laurin, and they had the difficult task of sifting through a total of 165 submissions.
"It's our biggest response so far," said Mr. Pilon.
A total of 51 photographs make up the exhibit, and Mr. Pilon estimates that 75 per cent of them are by artists in Cornwall and SDG.
The awards night is free admission and open to all. The photography exhibit lasts until October 5, 2012.
