PumpkinfernoCornwall Ontario – Thousands of big orange pumpkins have invaded Upper Canada Village, creating an amazing new experience unlike any other in Canada.

Pumpkinferno kicks off October 5 and extends through October 31, offering a 45 minute walking tour through Upper Canada Village at night and showcasing over 30 themed exhibits featuring – you guessed it – artistically carved and brightly lit pumpkins. Guests will be amazed by an eclectic display of scenes from exotic places and historic ages, forest animals and sea-born creatures, story book heroes, mythical characters, cultural icons and more .... all creatively carved from artificial pumpkins!

“We have invested more than half a million dollars into Pumpkinferno, which will have an instant appeal to absolutely everyone of any age,” said Darren Dalgleish, General Manager & CEO, St. Lawrence Parks Commission. “Pumpkinferno is a brilliant blend of art and entertainment and we expect to attract guests from Upper New York State, Montreal, Ottawa, Kingston and points in between.”

In addition to the artist-inspired artificial pumpkins on display at Pumpkinferno, school children from across Eastern Ontario were invited to share their own unique artistic carvings using real pumpkins.  With 13 schools and over 640 school children participating, Upper Canada Village will be displaying hundreds of their carved pumpkins over the course of the event in a special exhibit “Our Children’s Pumpkin Art”.

Guests to Pumpkinferno won’t go hungry!  Try a Mummy Dog on a stick, with a side of Brains and Bones Poutine!  Enjoy a hot bowl of Spooky Soup or Stew topped with a Spider Croissant or slurp back a Pumpkin Pie Soda ... plus lots more!

Full service dining is also available in the ambience of the historic 1860’s era Willard’s Hotel, in the heart of Upper Canada Village.  Reservations are recommended.

The Village Store will be open for Pumpkinferno featuring a new line of Hallowe’en decorations and décor.  Guests can take a little bit of Pumpkinferno home with them by purchasing an artificial carved pumpkin – just like those on display.  Two designs are available but quantities are limited.

“The Pumpkinferno team has worked really hard to bring this event to fruition,” said Neil Shorthouse, Special Events Officer.   “I think our visitors will be awed by the artistry of the carvings but at the same time they will also be entertained. It’s really something fun and different for the Village.”
