NHL players to Skate at Complex and Raise Funds for Charity
Cornwall, Ontario - A group of NHL players will be in Cornwall, Ontario on Monday, November 5, 2012 for a charity hockey game to benefit the Cornwall Chapter of the Max Keeping Foundation and First Assist, a charity that funds programs to benefit First Nations youth in fly-in communities.
Game time at the Cornwall Civic Complex is set for 7:30 pm.
The two teams will consist of locked out players from various NHL teams including Ottawa Senators teammates Daniel Alfredsson, Chris Neil, Chris Phillips, Zack Smith, Peter Regin, Marc Methot and Guillaume Latendresse. Former Cornwall Colt and Long Sault native, Jesse Winchester will also be in the line-up.
Also playing are: Grant Clitsome (Winnipeg), Brian Gionta (Montreal), Stephen Gionta (New Jersey), Travis Moen (Montreal), Josh Gorges (Montreal), Derick Brassard (Columbus) and Tyler Kennedy (Pittsburgh).
Recently retired Ottawa Senator Sean Donovan will also play. Watch this page as more names are announced!
“I’m excited to announce that we (NHLPA) will be playing in Cornwall,” said John Chabot, a former NHLer and coach who is the driving force behind the event.

“The City of Cornwall and the surrounding areas are made up of tremendous hockey fans and they will enjoy seeing NHL players up close,” Chabot said. “There will be a number of opportunities for fans to interact with the players.”
Chabot is in the midst of organizing a series of games for the locked out professionals still in Ottawa which could take them to other locations in Ontario before moving on to Northern Quebec and the Northwest Territories.
“We’ve had a lot of interest from other towns to visit and play. Everything has come together very quickly,” Chabot said.
Tickets for the Cornwall game will cost $20 per person but if you say the password (First Assist Charity) you will get two tickets for the price of one.

John Chabot is a former Hull Olympiques star who carved out a 508-game NHL career with Montreal, Pittsburgh and Detroit and later served as head coach of the Olympiques and as an assistant with the New York Islanders. He is Algonquin from Kitigan Zibi, and is active in visiting reserves to speak and run hockey skills camps across Canada.
