Guy Lauzon MPCornwall Ontario - MP Guy Lauzon announced today that $884,800 has been made available to fund Eastern Ontario Development Program (EODP) initiatives in Cornwall and SDG. The funding is to support 2013 projects.

“The investment in our region is a continuation of our government’s promise to focus on the economy and jobs,” said MP Guy Lauzon. “I believe that our region is the most attractive area in the country for the public and private sectors to do business in. The Eastern Ontario Development Program helps to attract and enhance private sector businesses in our communities.”

"EODP is one of those programs that is key to providing funding to both the not for profit sector and businesses," said François Désormeaux,  Executive Director of the SD&G Community Futures Development Corporation. "We have seen a shift in the numbers of businesses who are now accessing funding from EODP. This program from FedDev is a real economic growth driver."

Any municipality, not-for-profit corporation, first nation or business based within Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry, including the City of Cornwall, is eligible to apply for funding from any of the three streams:

  • Business Development
  • Community Innovation
  • Collaborative Projects

"It's nice to see that funding has once again been renewed for this program which has in the past helped Cornwall and area businesses and organizations," said Mayor Bob Kilger. "I would urge entrepreneurs and community groups to take a closer look at the program."

The maximum contribution to any specific project is capped at $100,000 per year. If the recipient is a for profit business the contribution cannot exceed more than 50% of the eligible costs.

The Program is managed by FedDev Ontario and local funding will be delivered by the SD&G Community Futures Development Corporation.
