Kings Landing Breaks Ground - Cornwall OntarioCornwall Ontario - Work is now underway on a new seven-storey residential development in Cornwall, and interest in the project has already reached new heights.

Mayor Bob Kilger joined with King’s Landing developer JC Godard and other project and City officials on Monday, December 3rd for an official sod turning at the site of the new development on Montreal Road.

Located on the former Courtaulds site, King’s Landing will feature 40 executive apartments offering great views of the St. Lawrence River, with units ranging in size from 1,000 sq. ft. to 1,650 sq. feet.

The appeal of the building’s location and design has already caught on with potential residents.

“The 40 units are all reserved, and we have a wait list,” said Mr. Godard.

In addition to its proximity to the St. Lawrence River, King’s Landing is also located close to St. Lawrence College,  the City’s recreational path and numerous businesses and restaurants in the Le Village and Downtown areas.

“We’re thrilled to see Mr. Godard embarking on yet another quality residential project in the City,” said Mayor Kilger. “This unique residential project will assist in our efforts to attract new residents to Cornwall.”

The construction of King’s Landing comes on the heels of another ambitious project by Mr. Godard. Riverdale Terrace opened its doors in October and the striking retirement residence features 95 studio and one-bedroom apartments next to the historic Cornwall Canal and St. Lawrence River in Riverdale.

“This is just good for the City,” said Alain Gravelle, Partner at Welch LLP and an investor in the King’s Landing development. “People are looking for something unique in the residential market, and Mr. Godard is bringing that to the City.”

The Kings Landing complex will be 7 stories tall, creating an instant landmark in Cornwall and along the St. Lawrence River. The building design incorporates attractive architectural features that include a red brick/stone exterior and an abundance of windows and balconies for the tenants.

The Kings Landing project is scheduled for occupancy in the fall of 2013.
