Medical Arts Pharmacy Named Business of the Year

Harry Haramis - Medical Arts PharmacyCornwall Ontario - Medical Arts Pharmacy was recently crowned Business of the Year at the 25th Annual Business Excellence Awards, hosted by the Cornwall and Area Chamber of Commerce.

"It is always rewarding when a Business Excellence Award winner is a home grown firm as is the case with Medical Arts Pharmacy," said Kevin Hargreaves, Chamber President. "The Business of the Year award recognizes excellence in variety of business and community factors."

Medical Arts Pharmacy is a locally owned and operated company with two locations in Cornwall, on Thirteenth Street East and on Montreal Road. The pharmacy has been a trusted member of the local health care community since 1956. The Pharmacy is owned by 3 partners: Harry Haramis, Josee Lemay and Suzie Pilon, and currently employs 55 team members.

"It was a real honour to have been selected as the Business of the Year," says Harry Haramis. "It is a privilege to be able to serve the residents of Cornwall and region."

This pharmacy offers a complete selection of specialty home health care products and services, tailored to meet specific needs for health recovery and maintenance. Pharmacists are on staff to assist with filling prescriptions and related medical advice.

Medical Arts pharmacists are also certified geriatric specialists, certified diabetes educators and certified compounding specialists - a combination of expertise that benefits customers, doctors and health professionals.

Medical Arts Pharmacy also has the only Drive-Thru pharmacy service in the region, a service that very helpful to clients with mobility problems.

The pharmacy has invested over $1 million in the past three years in new technologies such as specialized computers, barcode systems, custom packaging equipment and a state-of-the-art compounding laboratory, amongst others.

With all of its professional services, Medical Arts Pharmacy has a focus on the community as well. Maxville Manor, Children’s Aid Society, Lights of Hope, United Way, Hospice Cornwall, Community Living and the Cornwall Community Hospital Foundation are just a few of the ways the company gives back.

Business Excellence Awards & Citizen of the Year

The Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards is a distinguished Cornwall tradition established in 1988. The Awards recognize outstanding achievements by Cornwall area businesses and individuals in the fields of commerce, community work and/or innovation. The awards ceremony, coupled with the presentation of the coveted Citizen of Year award is one of Cornwall’s most prestigious annual affairs.
