Construction is well underway on Cornwall Plaza, a major commercial development on the City's busiest street, Brookdale Avenue.

The 70,000-square-foot development will consist of three buildings, and will welcome between five and 10 tenants, including national retail-chain stores and a number of lifestyle and food-services companies. Shoppers Drug Mart is a confirmed tenant, however the identities of the occupants will be disclosed at a later date, once the lease agreements are finalized.

"The first two buildings to go up will total 50,000 square feet, and the initial tenants-big-box stores for the most part-will move in by spring 2010," said Bill Harden, President of the Harden Group. "Work on the third building will begin slightly later, with a projected occupancy date of September 2010".

This is an extremely fast-track calendar, especially given the fact that Harden Group Real Estate Construction Development is renowned for its impeccable construction quality and the commitment of its executives at all project stages. The company, which this year is celebrating its 25th year in business, is run by Harden and his two sons, Tyler and Chris. Harden Group is very well positioned to understand tenant needs perfectly, as it is itself the owner of a family-run jewellery business founded by the elder Harden's father some 60 years ago. Business acumen and, especially, customer service are solid company attributes.

"We pay acute attention to construction of our buildings. We care about each and every project, and our focus is on creating attractive, pleasant, well-lit premises where people feel good, feel safe and feel comfortable. That's our true hallmark, and a source of great pride for us," emphasizes Bill Harden.

Mayor Bob Kilger is delighted with the project, which will allow Cornwall and area citizens to purchase their goods close to home, in friendly surroundings. "I have no doubt that members of our community will find Cornwall Plaza to be both a practical and a pleasant meeting point," said Mayor Kilger. The construction of this shopping centre is also proof that our region is in vigorous economic health".

Cornwall Plaza is located on the former site of Brookshell GM, at the intersection of Rosemount Drive and Brookdale Avenue.
