The National Job Fair takes place Thursday and Friday (October 15-17) at Place Bonaventure in conjunction with the National Education Fair. The Cornwall booth is 258A.
"There is always a lot of interest in Cornwall from people in Montreal and Western Quebec and the show gives us the opportunity to answer their questions in person," said Bob Peters, Senior Development Officer. "We hope to attract new residents to Cornwall, and one of the best ways to do that is with the potential of a new job."
In additon to promoting local employment opportunities, the Cornwall team will also be promoting educational opportunities, immigration support programs, entrepreneurship and new housing developments such as the Cotton Mill Lofts, Knox City Centre and Dominion Place.
This is the second consecutive year that the City has exhibited at the Job Fair.
"Our booth was quite busy last year," says Mr. Peters. “We’re once again looking forward to talking to people about Cornwall, and inviting them to come visit and take a closer look.”

"Cornwall is a great choice for young families who may be looking for a new place to settle," says Ms. Coombs. "There are a number of programs and groups that can provide support to newcomers."
Job seekers will be interested in finding out how to access local job postings, many of which can be viewed on line on job boards like the one at ChooseCornwall.ca.
“Our Employment Opportunities page is the most popular part of the Choose Cornwall website,” says Mr. Peters. “Our goal is to give people one online resource to discover why Cornwall is a great place to live – and work.”
In addition to the prospects of a new job, there are a number of compelling reasons to move to Cornwall, including an affordable cost of living and some world-class recreational amenities. Ontario residents also benefit from lower income tax rates than Quebec residents.
