Cornwall has produced some very well known music artists and bands, including the Brigadoons, Glengarry Bhoys, Greenwich Meantime and the Barstool Prophets. Here are some of the most recent musicians to release a CD:
Graham Greer
The former frontman for the Barstool Prophets released his second solo CD in 2009. Gone is the nickname, Moonlight Graham, and the new CD is self-titled and produced by Joe Hardy (ZZ Top, Steve Earle, Tom Cochrane), Todd Huckabone and Graham Greer. These days one will often find Greer on the stage with Todd Huckabone (guitar) and Steph McAlear (percussion) as one-third of the Graham Greer Trio.
Trench Town Oddities
Playing an eclectic blend of pop, funk, rock, blues and reggae - often called Caribbean pop or rock reggae - listening to the Trench Town Oddities conjures up images of summer fun, beaches and tropical cocktails. Led by former Ritual lead singer Sean Harley, the Oddities are a crowd pleaser for every age group.
The Shiners
The acoustic-based Shiners combine folk, Celtic and alt-country influences into their own style and sound. To the delight of audiences everywhere, their minimal instrument and vocal arrangement delivers a surprisingly full sound. At the heart of their fun-loving delivery, crowd chemistry and musical diversity is an honest and serious effort to produce meaningful music.
Thérèse Motard
Born in Cornwall, Ontario, Thérèse Motard is an award-winning cellist who has performed with several orchestras and as a soloist with numerous Canadian ensembles. She has collaborated on over 30 CDs, of which "Song of the Birds" (pictured) is one of the most popular. Still active in music and performing, Madame Motard recently recorded a Christmas CD with several Cornwall artists.
